I Forgot There Was A War On
by Coltrane Motion
Coltrane Motion

Understated excitement abounds with this Chicago duo. Michael Bond and Mat Dennewitz combined unaffected vocals with layered uptempo instrumentals to produce a surprisingly upbeat sound. Check out their latest album "Hello Ambition".

Pumped Up Kicks
by Foster The People
Foster The People

This song is incredibly infectious. In the months since they formed in October, four guys from LA have managed to create a song that's already receiving praise as this years summer anthem. It's only a matter of time before we hear more from them. They haven't set a release date yet for their full album.

Angel Echoes (Caribou remix)
by Four Tet
Four Tet / Caribou

The original track from Four Tet has been lengthened, frightened, and given away for free. The Caribou version of the track is a remix masterpiece with it's intricate sounds intertwined with clubby techno style beats, slap chopped vocals and home-made bleeps and bloops thrown into the mix.

Glory Of The Night (Demo) &
Rain Of Gold
by Young Empires
Young Empires

With no full length offerings to date, this young band from Toronto continues to tease us with another single. They've definitely peaked our interest. Get yourself aquatinted with them on these tracks and you'll be just as impatient for more than just a taste.

Follow Me Down feat. Sleepy Sun
(The Golden Filter remix)
by UNKLE
UNKLE, Sleepy Suns, Golden Filter

All three of the artists featured in this track have been recommended on the site before. What a cluster this track could have been, yet the super-talented Golden Filter have masterfully remixed the tune to give it that signature Golden Filter sound without butchering the original. Sleepy Sun will be in Denver this Sunday at Hi-Dive, so be sure to check them out.

Chinatown
by Wild Nothing
Wild Nothing

Somehow, Virginia based Jack Tatum (aka Wild Nothing) convinces you to be happy about being sad with this offering from his newly released album "Gemini". It's got that same refreshing feeling the city has right after an early morning summer rainstorm.

Run The Heart (Bassnectar remix)
by Sleigh Bells
Sleigh Bells Bassnectar

We featured Sleigh Bells two weeks ago. Here's a Bassnectar Remix of "Run The Heart" where he adds a heaviness to the track that I didn't even realize was missing from the original. The heavy beat plays so well with the vocals of Alexis Krauss.

Better Than Love
by Hurts
Hurts

The Manchester group's debut album "Better Than Love" will be well received in many circles, especially among the Depeche Mode devotees. If Depeche Mode were to continue in the musical direction of "Music For The Masses" this is probably close to what they would sound like today. Don't get me wrong, The French "Jamaica" remix of the same track transforms the tune into something more danceable, but it's still quite good.

Lady Daydream
(Blackbird Blackbird remix)
by Twin Sister
Twin Sister

Blackbird Blackbird was on last weeks newsletter, and now he's remixing Lady Daydream by Twin Sister. Andrea Estella's breathy vocals sound like they were made to be remixed in Mikey Sanders ethereal style. Check out the original from the Long Island five piece on their "Color Your Life" EP. They will be at the Hi-Dive in Denver on July 29th with Bear in Heaven.

Sabotage (Alex Metric Re-Edit)
by Beastie Boys
Beastie Boys / Alex Metric

UK DJ, Alex Metric promised to release this track after he got 5000 followers on Twitter. That day has come and here it is. The track's been electrocized without losing it's trademark Beastie sound. This track demonstrated Metric's ability as a producer and editor. It's easy to go crazy with remixes, throwing the kitchen sink at it. Alex Metric adds just the right amount of signature style without bastardizing the quality of the original track.

The Line
by Battles
Twilight Eclipse / Battles

I know what you're thinking, Twilight....Really?.....Really? Chop Shop owner, Alex Patsavas, the music supervisor behind all 3 films and countless television shows including Chuck, Gossip Girl, OC, Mad Men, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy etc, is one of the best in the business. Battles have offered up an awesome track for the movie with "The Line". As with other tracks we love hear at ArtistRoster.com, the track starts with some pretty basic instrumentation, allowing the singer's voice to be enjoyed. Then they steadily add in more instruments, more voices, more energy, until the song reaches capacity and explodes in percussion.
